FAQ

These are the frequently asked questions about getting a Designer Yorkies yorkie puppy.

Do you take deposits for a puppy or the waitlist ?

I don’t really like to take deposits on puppies because you may find another puppy you want before mine is ready to go. The most important reason is that sometimes the smallest puppy at birth is the biggest puppy at 8 weeks old. I want my clients to be happy with the puppy they get, and charting is more accurate the older they get. Most people want a certain size either for breeding or a really small companion. I want you to be happy with the puppy you get even when its an adult. I do get people who send in deposits without even speaking to me, I just put your info on the waitlist either way deposit or not. I personally like to wait until they are older to pick ones to keep, and my clients usually like to wait as well. Sometimes I do get clients who don’t care how big the puppy gets and send a deposit anyway. I guess it’s a case-by-case basis. People are constantly asking for updated pics from the time they are born, on a puppy they may not even want 5 weeks later. So it gets crazy, but I try to accommodate everyone.

What is the best way to reach you?

The best way to contact me is through text message. I get phone ambushed all the time from people around the country that are breeders calling to ask me a million questions about breeding their dogs and would keep me on the phone for hours helping them. I am too nice and can’t get off the call. So I have stopped answering calls. A text message allows me to screen out people who are time sucks, and actually answer my clients who have a question about my program or need to know something before proceeding. I am easy to find and do research on, I always try to show I’m a real person. Janet Tolbert 801-503-2186

Do you have a health guarantee?

Yes, I do have a health guarantee. It is a long contract, due to having been in this business for a long period of time. As we go through different situations we account for those in the contract. Here is a link to the “Health Guarantee”

How much do your puppies cost?

Our base price is $5,500. I have been breeding for a long time and the beauty and quality of our Yorkie puppies speaks for themselves.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We prefer Cash or Zelle because we don’t get charged a processing fee. However, we will accept Venmo and Credit cards. If you use a credit card you will be charged a 3.5% processing fee and state sales tax. We pay the State of Utah Sales Tax for every puppy we sell.

How do I get the process started to get a puppy?

Please fill out a puppy application. I may have a puppy available currently for you, or have one that I feel fits what you’re looking for at a young age, I will basically keep that puppy in mind for you. Here’s a link to the puppy application https://designeryorkies.com/puppy-application/

–  You can get on our subscriber list, I send out emails when puppies are born, or become available. It is a subscriber service, so you can unsubscribe in the email when you get it, at any point. Here’s a link to get subscribed for the email updates – https://designeryorkies.com/get-updated/

Do you sell puppies with Full AKC registation and breeding rights ?

I do sell full AKC and breeding rights to other breeders. I usually ask $1,000 more. I used to not sell to other breeders, but as the years have gone by I decided that if I have good lines, I should share them so other breeders can get good breeding dogs, and spread healthy lines. Just be honest with me if you are planning on breeding the dog. I only give the AKC papers to you if you pay the extra $1,000. I will not give papers out on your word that you won’t breed. I’ve had so many people tell me, we just want them to know they are purebred. Then a year later I see them selling the babies on KSL. It’s a tough spot for me to be in.

Are you able to Keep puppies past the pick up age of the puppy?

Unfortunately, we don’t. You need to pick up your puppy on the agreed-upon date. If you cannot keep to that for any reason, the puppy will be put back up for sale. You will forfeit any wait list fee. Unfortunately, every time we have kept a puppy past pick up – they end up backing out last minute. If you can’t make picking up your puppy a priority, you probably won’t in a few weeks. I have always tried to do the nice thing for people in this situation and it has ended up in failure to pick up the puppy at the very last minute. We will charge $45 per day starting on the next calendar day after failed pickup, for boarding until you do pick your puppy up.

How do I know you are not a scammer?

I go to great lengths in everything I do to make sure you are 100% sure that I, Janet Tolbert can be trusted. I ask that puppies be paid for in full before I meet with my lap nanny to deliver. This website is quite the investment of time, you can see how huge it is and it’s not the work of someone trying to make a quick buck, just make sure you are talking to me Janet Tolbert at 801-503-2186 , and Designeryorkies@gmail.com.  Anyone contacting you from a different # is pretending to be me. I am also happy to send you a copy of my state-issued driver’s license so you know I have nothing to hide. Another thing to consider is that I have a brand. It’s Designer Yorkies. I have to protect my name and my reputation, if I was a scammer you wouldn’t see me branding everything I do with a brand because a simple google search would show scam claims. I hope this alleviates some of your concerns, and you ask me for videos of puppies with my face in it! I would love to welcome you to the Designer Yorkies family.

Can we visit your home?

I do let people come visit my home. There have been occasions where someone calls me and doesn’t ask any questions about a puppy and just asks me what my address is and if they can come to pick up the puppy, I give them the address and they pull up to my home (our home is very nice and in an affluent neighborhood) and drive away without even parking. Every home in my neighborhood has high-tech security cams. I 100% know, they were coming to either steal my puppies or something worse. I have to be careful, these puppies are an easy score for someone who thinks they can make quick cash from robbing me. I know breeders who have been killed for their puppies, run over at meeting places in parking lots, and held at gunpoint. Sometimes, women are let into a breeder’s home, only to have a car full of men pull and be let into the home. What a scary thought. I only allow people to visit while my husband is home. I also want my clients to know, that they are going to be safe when coming to visit the puppies, often with an envelope of cash. So communication is very important before you come over. Feel free to ask me for a copy of my driver’s license, and please don’t be offended if I ask for a copy of yours to schedule a visit. I'm out of state, how do I get my puppy?

we have 3 options-

1. We have a lap nanny that we recommend, we give you their info and you work with them to pick out a flight for your puppy to get to you.

2. You can fly into our nearest airport Salt Lake City International Airport, and I will meet you there. You can pay in person in cash for your puppy. This helps you know there is a puppy and I am not a scammer.

3. You can drive to my home for pickup.

Do you do any health testing on the parents?

Yes, we do EMBARK genetic DNA testing. Each parent is tested for over 216 different genetic disorders diseases.
